Question By Patient: I was told previous blood work showed I have Lupus, but now am in remission. I’ve had severe body aches and mouth sores again. Am I having a flare up?

Answer By Dr. Srinivasan

Lupus is a chronic autoimmune systemic disorder and can have quiet periods with acute intermittent flares. Mouth sores with severe body aches necessitate re-evaluation for acute flare. Though mouth sores and severe body aches could be from other sources, evaluation for lupus flare could help control inflammation with early intervention to minimize symptoms improve healing if it is lupus induced.
